The Jury Can't Forget This

Nov 15, 2019

Ten jurors are secluded inside a San Francisco federal courthouse on day three of their deliberations. No one knows when they’ll return a verdict in Planned Parenthood’s baseless vengeance suit demanding millions from pro-life hero Sandra Merritt.

But there’s one thing for sure. Jurors can’t forget what they saw and heard inside the courtroom over the last six weeks -- the brutal truth about how Planned Parenthood sells baby body parts for big bucks.

It showed on jurors’ faces.

That’s why I ask you to pray earnestly—and to stand with Liberty Counsel today with a special gift.

This is a critical case for Sandra . . . and the unborn. It’s also incredibly expensive.

Because Liberty Counsel does not charge to represent Sandra—or any of our clients—we’re dependent on friends like you. Please be as generous as you can! -Mat.

As I write, Liberty Counsel attorney Harry Mihet is stationed inside the San Francisco federal courthouse where a jury is deciding Sandra Merritt’s fate. He and other attorneys are waiting on hard chairs in case the jury has a question—or it delivers its verdict.

The six-week trial produced thousands of pages of testimony—but it also presented jurors with the cold, ugly truth about what Planned Parenthood does to little babies. And one chilling piece of evidence came from an unlikely source: ABC News.

+  +  This caught attorneys on both sides by surprise...

In a move that shocked attorneys for Planned Parenthood—as well as attorneys on our side—U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick let jurors watch an ABC News 20/20 undercover investigation from 2000.

Using almost identical techniques as those employed by Sandra and her colleague David Daleiden, 20/20 went undercover to expose the ghoulish baby body parts industry in America.

Hosted by ABC News correspondent Chris Wallace, the 20/20 report showed Dr. Miles Jones, a pathologist, boasting on secretly recorded video he could make $2,500 on one baby’s dismembered parts. He earned $50,000 some weeks, he claimed. “It's just a matter of being able to match supply and demand.”

And in a jarring twist, jurors watched as Planned Parenthood’s then-president, Gloria Feldt, condemned the baby parts business on the 20/20 report . . .

“Where there is wrongdoing,” Feldt said, “it should be prosecuted; and people who are doing that kind of thing [profiting from baby parts] should be brought to justice.”

+  +  The shock showed on jurors' faces

That ABC News report made a visible impact on the jury—as Liberty Counsel Chief Litigation Counsel Harry Mihet noted in his closing argument...

Well, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I KNOW that you can’t . . . forget what you saw and what you heard in this courtroom over the last six weeks. I saw your natural, human reaction to the videos that you’ve seen and the testimony that you’ve heard.

And I can tell, based upon that reaction that the same conscience that God placed inside of Sandra Merritt and her colleagues, exists inside each and every one of you!

And that’s why you don’t need me, a lawyer, to tell you that these things needed to be investigated and needed to be brought to light. You already KNOW that to be true, and I ask you to issue a just verdict consistent with what you know.

+  +  Your prayers and generosity needed now!

Will you join me in praying for a just verdict—for victory in this epic legal clash against the world’s leading abortion machine?

Planned Parenthood is desperate to bury the evidence Sandra uncovered about its heinous commerce in body parts cut from the infants it kills. As Planned Parenthood's COO admitted in the trial, the abortion chain's "brand was damaged."

That's why the powerful $1.7 billion abortion firm is suing Sandra—demanding millions in punitive damages from a 66-year-old grandmother on Social Security.

Will you help us defend her now?

Trial costs are in the high six figures and the need is unmet. And we'll learn soon whether the criminal charges threatening Sandra with more than a decade behind bars will go to trial.

That's why I ask you to make an urgently needed gift now. Even if you have already given (and many of our faithful supporters like you have done so), your support today will make a real difference for Sandra . . . and the unborn.

Thank you for your prayers and for standing with Sandra as we await the jury’s decision!

With gratitude,
